The Reconciling United Methodists & Friends of North Carolina will be meeting for a vesper service at Calvary UMC, 304 E. Trinity Ave. in Durham on Sunday, Oct. 8th at 5:30 pm.
Aside from the annual Jack Crum Conferences, this will be our first inclusive worship service in the sanctuary of a Methodist Church and just for a RUM-NC meeting in several years. We have a joint worship service with MFSA- NC at annual conference each year, but that is held in a restaurant because we're not officially recognized by the conference. That is also a very busy time, and many folks are not able to join us because of schedule conflicts. We're hoping for a great attendance to recognize this special event. Please invite your pastor to join you at our meeting.
Rev. Chris Agoranos will be officiating at the service. Rummies who can sing are asked to join the choir for the communion hymn "Let There Be Bread" from TFWS 2260. Those who will sing in the choir are asked to come at 4:45 to practice. There will be a reception in the fellowship hall following the service. If your congregation is a part of the Reconciling Network, then you are asked to make a special annoucement at your church of this meeting. If your congregation is not a part of the network, this will be a special opportunity to join with fellow progressive Methodists in fully expressing the UMC Motto: Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors.
