We have come together to help the church become more inclusive to All God's children, including those who are lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, and transgender (LGBT). We're working to help the church live up to its motto: Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Doors by understanding that many doors have been closed only to this one group of LGBT members. We do not seek an endorsement of homosexuality or to debate the Bible on this issue. We seek to work within the missions and ministries of the United Methodist Church (UMC.) RUM-NC is a recognized caucus of the North Carolina Annual Conference but receives no funds or direction from the church. We welcome our newest Reconciling Congregation at Avent Ferry United Methodist Church in Raleigh.
